Summary

Splat 3 NSE Winter will run over 5 weeks with matches taking place every Monday. Teams will play 2-3 matches a week and the tournament will use a modified Swiss format. After the first 3 weeks the teams will be split into playoff divisions.

RULES SUMMARY

This is a quick summary of rules that most players need to know. Click here to download the full rulebook.

  • All players must be current students from the same university. 
  • Teams must have at least 4 players.
  • If teams are more than 15 minutes late they will forfeit a match.
  • Check-in deadline is 6:30pm. Teams who don't check-in will not get games for that evening.
  • Offensive Account and Team names are not allowed.
  • Verbal abuse is not allowed. In particular any use of racist, sexist, homophobic or any other discriminatory language will be suspended for the remainder of the season (minimum of 3 weeks, carried over to the following season).

In addition to NSE rules all players must comply with Splatoon 3 terms of service at all times including, but not limited to, any account sharing policies.

Players are expected to uphold the NSE Code of Conduct whilst competing in this tournament.

GAME RULES

  • Secondary Abilities are permitted.
  • Weapons with the Splattercolour Screen special weapon are banned.
  • A game may be remade if the following conditions are met:
    • The timer was not below 2:30 when the disconnection occurred.
    • The team without the disconnection did not score 50 points or more by pushing the objective.
  • Each team is allowed to replay one game per match.

GAME MODE AND MAP SELECTION

All games will be best of 5. The game modes will be played in the order of the weekly mode rotation. Turf War will always be the first game mode, the other four game modes will rotate each week, with the final mode being the second mode of the following week. The home team will select the map to play in the first game. In subsequent games, the loser of the previous map chooses the next map. You can not play the same map twice in the same match.

SUBSTITUTION RULES

  • Teams may add/remove players from the team between weeks.
  • Teams may play with any players listed on their roster.
    • In a bo5 match, teams may substitute players between games.
  • Players may be added to teams at any point as long as it does not cause a delay to round starting.
  • Players may not play for more than one team in a single tournament night.
  • If a team does not have a match during a round, the students on that team are not allowed to compete on a different team.
    • For example, if the first team does not have a match but the second team does, no players who would normally represent the first team are eligible to play for the second team.

 

All decisions regarding the interpretation and enforcement of these rules are at the sole discretion of the NSE Admin Team, whose decisions are final.
These rules may be amended, changed or supplemented when required by the NSE Admin Team to ensure fair play and competitive integrity.
