V.A.S.T - Kingston University have been selected as the Pot Noodle Society of the Month for December for their incredibly active month, with super unique events like D&D one-shots and their Vasqueradel!

We spoke to their president, SquishyMilk, to find out more...

You had a really busy and varied month! Can you tell us a bit more about the events you ran and how they went?
I'd say in general events tend to always go well, of course there's hiccups along the way. For example, due to sickness or assignment/exam season it becomes difficult for committee to come together and plan stuff properly which happened at vasquerade party, which was a masquerade themed ball. It's unfortunate we weren't able to give it our all, but it was still a great party with a bar, music, and food. In terms of movie nights, oftentimes turnout depends on what specific movie or game put on, so sometimes there are days where only 2-5 people will show up. D&D tends to have a decent turnout everytime due to the fact that it is infrequent event, and everyone has great stories by the end of the session! Overall our events tend to run smoothly!

Out of all the events you hosted, was there one that really stood out to the community? How do you usually decide what events to run each month? We usually try to aim for 1 big event a month along side our 4 weekly events. As a general guideline we try and follow 1 alcoholic event/party one month, and the next month we have a non-alcoholic event, such as quizzes. This gives our members both variety but also for those who don't drink, they can still participate in our events! As for the event that stood out the most, I'd say our Halloween party in collaboration with Psychology society! Lots of people turned up and as it was a collab with another society, we met a lot of new faces. We bought pizza, a quiz, and a best costume contest! I think everyone there enjoyed their time.

V.A.S.T = videogames, anime, sci-fi, and tabletop —> how does that mix of interests influence the kinds of events you run and the overall vibe of the society? We like to make V.A.S.T an open and inviting space for everyone and I think people tend to have a few things of our society that they can enjoy. We sometimes like to mix events, for example we had an anime and sci-fi crossover. It is also a great opportunity for people to try something new! For example, when I first came to V.A.S.T I was mostly interested in videogames, but after making friends here I started joining them at tabletop, and I found myself enjoying tabletop more than videogames at times!

Are there any exciting events or ideas coming up that members can look forward to?Definitely more collabs with other societies to come, as well as our yearly valentines themed dnd one-shots as tradition! Also we are planning on a quiz, perhaps gameshow themed.

And finally, the most important question: If you could give a Pot Noodle flavour to each of the sections of your society (V.A.S.T) what would each get?Video Games - Chicken and MushroomAnime - Sweet and SourScifi - Bombay Bad BoyTabletop - Original Curry
