NUSELO TOP 20 - 3rd - Frosty - podbots

Josh is unfortunately the embodiment of what’s wrong with University CS, a player riddled with loyalty, too willing to choose personal sacrifice and considers CS as the furthest thing from a solo endeavour. Over the past few years we have seen the top University CS players absolutely pub stomp and make a name for themselves, Kisynergy dominated University CS and now plays for K10 in UKIC, Ourob carried Bournemouth for multiple seasons , debuted at EPIC and beat RMR player cryths and is now nestled on Shaman. Frosty could easily have been the face of University CS and 2 years ago was the statistically best IGL, statistically the best entry and statistically the best fragger in University CS , he could've been a dick and full ego’d it but no. He should have and deserves to have progressed from University CS by now.

Josh holds the record for the most appearances in the NUSELO Top 20 out of Southampton students so you've heard how he has gotten here many times before. To summarise, he has played pretty much every role under the sun, has played each role well and is the most successful NSE player of this generation, winning 2 NSE finals in 2 years (now 3 in 3) and consistently performing well in the finals.

Josh comes into the season with the view that podbots had an even chance of doing the treble and the first IGL to do so. Unsurprisingly, podbots had a stellar NSE and NUEL qualification stages and only hiccup was an absolute 13-1 battering by Half Natty in the Varsity groups, sources close to the team suggest that Kezham was calling this game and was a factor in their loss. Having watched the game I don't think anyone was calling and were too busy dumbfounded at the first humbling of their overconfidence. Regardless they'd still top the group and continue on their path of being the favourites. In all competitions they had a pretty uncontested run to the finals with their only hiccup being losing the Upper Final of NSE against Half Natty and having quite a close Upper final game against the sleeping giant of Surrey Stags on Ancient (the team did not learn from this). Regardless they made all 3 finals and were the first team to do so in the history of University CS. But that's where the trouble began, overzealousness and Godku.

Josh had dutifully been playing the ESEA Season with Chucklestorm at the same time as University CS after last minute subbing in them for EPIC40. But, the NUEL Finals would clash with one of the ESEA playoffs round of Chucklestorm. Loyalty and selflessness are traits that benefit everyone but yourself and Josh decided to prioritise Chuckle Storm that night, subbing out for the maps that clashed would cost podbots, losing 3-2 to Mama P. Frosty would then go on to get cut from the Chuckle Storm core and his efforts would go to waste. I don't understand how teams work and there's every chance this was the needed decision for the team and it is not Godku’s fault by any means, however that's not to say that Josh didn't deserve better. Podbots at least win the NSE Finals that season but their overzealousness would see them suffer a shocking defeat to Archers after “winning the veto” and being the “far better team”. Some would consider the season as one to forget, that's only really because of how much success this roster has gone on to have with expectations sky high, that's due to the star studded roster the University manages to field. Even their bench was stacked with one of the greatest Uni CS IGL’s , one of the best veto masterminds of Uni CS and Hanno. Josh would finish the season with impressive ratings across every tournament (1.3 rating in UKIC) and good performances across each map in the final.

I sound like a broken record because this is the same story every season, he’s an exemplary player and the only thing that ever changes is the role he is playing each season and every season like clockwork its a great performance. I have always pushed for greater integration between University CS and the main UKCS scene and I am finally starting to see alot of Uni CS players progress to UKCS. Josh is everything wrong with University CS cause he should be one of those players progressing, a servant to Southampton’s teams and regarded as one of their best game reps, if he doesnt make it the system has failed.

Either way this Southampton roster has been one of the best teams of all time. I'm adamant that UWE Seastags are by far the best roster to ever do it and KCL Lions the 2nd as they were the giant slayers. In turn I think a fair claim can be made of the Team 4 - podbots core being the 3rd best to do it as they ended KCL’s reign and have been consistently up there making finals for 3 years now. That achievement alone is still more than most.
