Barclays and NSE (National Student Esports) are partnering for the upcoming academic year - in addition to becoming an official sponsor of the British University Esports Championships, Barclays and NSE will be delivering a number of initiatives for student esports enthusiasts to be announced at a later date.

The partnership follows the Barclays Game Technology Frenzy event in January 2020 during which Barclays and NSE collaborated to organise a series of student show matches at Barclays HQ in Canary Wharf.

The announcement represents Barclays’ second investment in the future of the UK esports community following their headline partnership of Dreamhack’s upcoming UKLC Summer 2020 competition and creates some exciting opportunities for collaboration.

Jonathan Tilbury, NSE’s Managing Director said “From day one, we’ve been struck by how passionate the team at Barclays are about esports. We’re incredibly excited to continue working with a brand so committed to positively shaping the future of the student esports space".

Ben Davey, CEO of Barclays Ventures added “We are delighted to be partnering with NSE. We see the important role they play in building UK grassroots esports. Not only does NSE bring students from around the country together online, to play the games they love competitively, they also champion programs like FutureGen, to create opportunities to help individuals and communities develop and grow”.
