This is the tournament signup page for the online singles component of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate University Championship.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate University Singles Championship online stage will be split into four cups each awarding circuit points. After all four cups have finished, each players top three finishes across online cups will count towards their final standing. 

Each tournament will run using a modified Swiss format. Players will be eliminated if they lose two games in an evening across a maximum of six rounds.

Prizes

Top 2 Players on Points who are not already qualified will be invited to finals. Players in top 8 play for following prizes:

1st - £100 GAME Credit + Medal

2nd - £60 GAME Credit

3rd - £40 GAME Credit

In addition to other prizes this tournament awards British University Esports Championship Points.

Match procedure:

  1. Player A bans a starter stage
  2. Player B picks a starter stage out of 2 remaining starter stages
  3. Each player then blind picks character for first stage
  4. The players play the first game of the set.
  5.  Winning player of the first game bans a stage*.
  6.  The losing player of the preceding game picks a stage for the next game. 
  7. The winning player of the first game chooses character for next game (this may be the same character)
  8. The losing player of the first game  chooses character for next game (this may be the same character)
  9. The second game is played.
  10. If game 3 is required winner of game 2 bans a stage*
  11. Losing player of game 2 picks a stage (they may not pick a stage played in game 1)
  12. The winning player of the second game chooses character for next game (this may be the same character)
  13. The losing player of the second game  chooses character for next game (this may be the same character)
  14. The third game is played.

 

*stage bans only count for the round they are banned. E.g if player a bans Battlefield as starter stage it may be picked for game 2 unless it is rebanned before game 2.
Rules

All players must be current students.

 

If teams are more than 20 minutes late they will forfeit match.

 

Check in deadline is 6:30pm. Players who don't check in will not get games for that evening.

 

Offensive player names are not allowed.

 

Verbal abuse is not allowed. In particular any use of racist, sexist, homophobic or any other discriminatory language will lead to a minimum 3 week suspension.

 

If a match ends with the successful use of a character’s self-destruct move, the results screen will determine the winner.

Other player must be made aware of move setup before game starts. This can be done via a discord message.

 

Players can sign up throughout season but should sign up at least 1 day in advance of circuit event they wish to participate in. Signups on the day will not be guaranteed entry.

All Online games with the exception of the Finals will be played on Thursday evening and cannot be rearranged. Games will have a normal start time of 7.15pm.
