The Scan Invitational, featuring Overwatch 2, unfolded over two intense days on April 13th and 14th. With 30 teams in the mix competing for a prize pool of £500, notably, the event was streamed live on Twitch and was open to students and Alumni! We'd like to give a big shoutout to Scan for their support, including a fantastic gaming bundle giveaway on top of our £500 prizepool.

We kicked off the stream with a quarter-final match between Kentune (University of Kent) and Southampton Supermarine (University of Southampton). Initially anticipated to be a closely contested game and a potential nail-biter, it turned out differently. Thanks to Kentsune's overall great teamwork and in particular their DPS Coolbeans' consistent outstanding plays, it resulted in a decisive Kensune 3-0 victory.

We then moved to one of the Semi-Finals, pitting the tournament favourites, Warwick Angels (University of Warwick), against Gooba Gang (Newcastle University). Once again, it was expected to be a tight match, especially with Gooba Gang being one of our Alumni teams that have previously shown strong performances in NSE. Despite a tense moment in map 2 where they suffered a C9 moment from Gooba Gang, leading to overtime, Warwick Angels rallied. Thanks to the exceptional performance of Andreas on Doomfist, they secured the series with another convincing 3-0 victory.

Meanwhile, off-stream, Kentune clashed with Portsmouth Retirement Home (University of Portsmouth). Despite being the underdog, Kentune managed to push Portsmouth Retirement Home to the final game with some impressive plays. Unfortunately for them, Portsmouth held on to close out the series 3-2.

After that, we proceeded to the Finals between Warwick Angels and Portsmouth Retirement Home. Despite Warwick Angels being the favorite of the tournament, Portsmouth had previously defeated Warwick with a score of 2-1 earlier in the event. This added an intriguing dynamic to the series. As expected, Warwick Angels came out strong, despite Portsmouth's efforts to counter Andreas' infamous Doomfist. Portsmouth did make a promising start to a comeback, but in the end, with some key plays from Andreas and KiddyInput, Warwick Angels closed out the series with a 4-2 victory.

We hope all of the players and spectators had a great time at the event! whilst saying A final thanks to our Casters: @Spectrioncasts & @EgdarTheRuiner and @AJBuddha1 for production.

Congratulations to our winners Warwick Angels! If you would like to have a look at the overall bracket see below:
