Community tournaments are back, and better than ever. After the brief pause over January for exam season where I'm sure everyone was studying hard for exams and definitely not procrastinating playing games, we are pleased to announce our upcoming tournaments for January 2019!
Saturday 2nd January: League of Legends
With the world championship just gone and all the various regions starting their new splits the last week or two we decided to hold our 1vs1 tournament to celebrate all things league and to find the ultimate 1 vs 1 university Champion. The format will be similar to how allstars 1 vs 1’s take place, with all matches taking place in howling abyss. First to kill, get a turret or reach 50cs wins and will move on to the next part of the double elimination bracket. Just don’t be that guy who picks Heimerdinger and goes for cs, not cool man, not cool. The prize is the knowledge of a job well done and a warm fuzzy feeling, as well as £10 in RP, points towards the new community cup and a special role in our discord server!
Saturday 9th January: Fortnite
Try as we might Fortnite just doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, from stealing games of the steam store to releasing big patches the day before huge tournaments the dance-happy cartoonish battle royale is still very much popular and very much in demand. Therefore, we will be running our second iteration of our successful Fortnite duos competition using the Keemstar format. The teams will battle against each other in two different games, with the team with the highest number of kills at the end of the second game taking home the trophy, the community cup points, discord role and 2 x £10 game vouchers for the successful duo.
Saturday 16th January: Worms W.M.D
Worms is a timeless classic who’s multiple iterations have persisted throughout the years and caused countless numbers of fond childhood memories. Therefore, we’ve decided to drag up all that childhood nostalgia and package it into a brutal fight to the death in a Worms Weapons of Mass Destruction 1 vs 1 extravaganza. Will you be instantly killed with a swift baseball bat off the side of the map? Will you land that lucky banana bomb and clutch the victory? Will you fall to your death in the deep blue sea? Who knows, all I know is that it’s going to be a fun and explosive game, with a £10 game voucher, discord role and the pride of your university at stake.
