Our August Society of the Month is Durham University Esports and Gaming Society - Congratulations!
DUEG are hosting a Summer Charity Stream for the 4th year in a row! This year, the society are supporting the Durham Foodbank; a charity local to the university that supports Durham residents facing food and cost of living crisis, ensuring they receive nutritionally balanced meals.
We asked Events and Outreach Officer "Ada" all about it:
How do you select the charity you're supporting?
The way our charity selection works is: our Welfare Rep chooses 3 charities - this year, we could vote on Gamers Beat Cancer, Unicef, and Durham Foodbank. Afterwards, these charities were put to a vote and the one with the most votes from our community members is chosen as the charity to be supported.
How can someone get involved?
They can watch the upcoming CS and Overwatch events on our >> Twitch channel <<. The dates for these events have yet to be decided, but they will be announced soon on our >> Discord server <<. The event is open to anyone, not just Durham students, so anyone can come participate in the tournaments to try and win prizes. Entering the tournament requires a small donation, but bigger donations can be made if someone wishes.
How can someone donate?
