The University Summer Splash is a two-division tournament that is split into 3 stages and runs for a total of 9 weeks with 2 games each week. This is an event run by USS, not the NSE team.

This tournament allows for alumni to compete alongside students in a mixed team format. To participate, all players must have attended the same University. If you're an Alumni and need assistance setting up your account, simply get in touch with alumni@nse.gg to create your mixed team.

The tournament is run on challonge, with NSE hosting sign ups. Therefore be sure to join the USS discord server to receive your matches each week.

The tournament is run as two separate divisions running adjacently to each other. These are the Champions Division, a top 8 semi-invitational Round Robin, and the Open Division, an open Swiss that all other teams may play in. Qualification for the Champions Division will occur via both invitation for past high performing teams and performance in the Champions Division Qualifiers. Movement between the divisions may occur via Promotion/Relegation matches.

Stage 0 - Qualifiers for Champions Division

Stage 1 - Swiss / Round Robin

For all other teams just sign up here on NSE and week 1 will be 7th july, promotion matches to champions happen after week 4

Open Division - This division will use a swiss format, in which teams will be paired to play a team with the same or similar number of games won. During the Swiss stage each team will play two Bo3 matches per week, every Monday starting at 7PM.

Champions Division - This division will use a Round Robin format, in which teams will play each of the other teams in the Champions Division twice over the course of four weeks. Matches are initially scheduled for Mondays at 7PM, but teams are permitted to reschedule them, provided the match is completed by the following Monday. During the Round Robin stage, each team will play two Bo3 matches per week.

Promotion / Relegation

After 4 weeks of Open Division Swiss matches, the top 4 placed teams of the Open Division, and the bottom 2 teams of the Champions Division will enter a Promotion/Relegation double elimination bracket for a place in the Champions Division playoffs, with teams seeded 1-6 in order of their placement. The top 2 placed teams will play in the Champions Division playoffs, and the bottom 4 teams will play in the Contenders playoffs. These matches will take place on the 2nd of August at 1PM.

Stage 2 - Playoffs

Playoffs will be split into 3 separate brackets: Champions, Contenders and Challengers. The Champions Division playoffs will consist of the 8 teams which are still remaining after the promotion/relegation matches. The Contenders playoffs will consist of teams who finished 1st-16th in the Open Division. The Challengers playoffs will consist of teams who finished 17th-32nd in the Open Division. For those who don’t make either of these brackets, there will be an Open Swiss format which runs until week 7.
