Following the University of Warwick victory, winning last year's British University Esports Championship (BUEC) for 2020/2021, we took a trip to the new Warwick Esports Centre to award the society, Warwick Esports, with their trophy.

Sam Hibbert, NSE's Head of Partnerships, presented the trophy alongside Vince Mayne, Chief Executive Officer of BUCS, to this year's President of the society, Josh “Phosphorescent” Mankelow, and the Vice President, Caity “Kat” Emery. Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Director of Sport & Active Communities at Warwick, also attended the presentation.

The University of Warwick invested £275,000 in the Esports Centre following the society's repeated success in the British University Esports Championship. The facility will not only provide students with an opportunity to compete, but also develop their technical skills, and provide esports-focused opportunities for the wider local community.

The trophy presentation took place on the second day of the centre's full operation and was part of a day of celebration of all things esports, with informal talks from key esports figures and tournaments for the esports community taking place.
