Congratulations to the Cambridge University Digital Gaming Society for becoming July's Society of the Month! We decided to choose Cambridge this month for their awesome work on the Oxford-Cambridge Esports Varsity 2022 edition, which took place at the Redbull Esports Sphere in London!

Not only did they contribute to putting together this live esports event, but they also managed to get a clean sweep victory this year!

We asked CUDGS to shout out some people that rose to the occasion and made the experience go as smoothly as it did.

Ciara, CUDGS Vice President:
“The event happened thanks to a lot of volunteer work from people from both sides. In the early planning stages, we had help from Alastair, Arpan, Gustav, Leah and myself from Cambridge, and Laura, Prahalad and Sameer from Oxford working on making the event happen. Sameer did a really great job in contacting potential venues, sponsors and jersey designers, Laura helped organise the Oxford side logistics, and Leah put together some amazing graphics, videos, and other promotional materials for the event.

During the event, we had a lot of last-minute production changes, so a big thanks to all our casters, and Gordon from Imperial who stepped in last minute to observe the stream on the first day. Leah, Andre, Sameer, Laura, and Felix from Oxford all did a great job running the stream over the event.

All our players performed fantastically to produce such a great result, but in particular our MVPs for each match were Oliver (CS:GO), Noah (Valorant), Joshua (Overwatch), Kiran (LoL), and Isaac (RL) - they played amazingly and will be receiving a special prize each as a reward.

The event couldn't have happened at all without all the help from the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in allowing us to use their venue, and I also want to thank Jason at ESK.GG for providing us with jerseys for the event and our speakers James and Becky for their great talks at the event.”
